New season at The Norwegian Opera & Ballet

I have managed to buy ticket for the 3 performances by Jose Cura at The Norwegian Opera & Ballet. That took me aprox. 30 minutes.

Trouble with getting into the bying process. Too little brandwidth, I think. But patience will get you through. Just try again

La FANCIULLA DEL WEST (12 & 14. December 2009 with Jose Cura)

Recital with Jose Cura (17.December 2009)

The WHOLE SEASON 2009-2010 is on sale. But the server is often busy. It will get better in the following days, I think.

News for Opernhaus Zurich's Turandot: I am not coming

Today I had planned a post about my going to Zurich to see Jose Cura as Calaf in TURANDOT. I saw this production last time on 2006-04-30.

But what happens? I am not well. It is not that I am terribly sick, but I am not well enough to go to work and so I must admit travelling to Zurich might really be too much. My body is telling me it is so. It is too bad. But on the other hand, going to Zurich and getting really, really unwell there is not a great option. Of course, I might just pull it through. But where is the joy in that. Especially since my return travel is even more rocky than the travel to Zurich and I do not need that. I hate to cancel my travels, it cost money and it costs dreams.

So I am off the PC now. Getting better costs.

Interview with Jose Carreras

From
May 8, 2009

Curtain falls on the Third Tenor José Carreras

He’s about to receive a lifetime achievement award in London. But José Carreras is quitting the opera stage

José Carreras has finished with opera. The revelation comes as the youngest of the Three Tenors prepares to receive a lifetime achievement award at the tenth Classical BRITs at the Albert Hall in London on Tuesday. Now 62, the great Spanish singer accepts that he could no longer meet the gruelling demands of the roles he has performed for the past four decades. “If I can do concert recitals,” he says, “adapting the repertoire to my needs, then no problem. But with operas, unless the right circumstances come up, my career is done.”

Much more
